Default should i buy this truck?

i found a 2007 2500hd diesel truck, crewcab, leather, onstar, etc. it has 196k miles and the asking price is 13850. do you think this is a good deal? I know the miles are high but arent diesels supposed to last 1 million miles if maintained? thanks for input. I would definately replace the rims!

i'd pass.

diesel ENGINES last awhile

diesel truck's SUSPENSION last like 3/4 of what gassers do. lol. the extra weight and such does a good amount of wear and tear and the drivetrain and suspension. Especially with all the extra hauling (compared to a gasser) abuse on the suspension drivetrain.

The motor is probably good, but that tranny is probably on it's last limb and the front suspension is probably just about shot, seeing how the seller doesn't mention any of that kind of stuff being replaced, so I'd assume it's all 196k oem stuff.

Default Truck

You should take a look at this one, close to you too and looks clean! Might be able to work out a deal on the price. Here is the link:

given that diesels last longer i.e. a million miles if maintained...maintenance will constantly go up. I would pass and buy a pre 2006 dodge, pre 2003 ford, and a pre 2009 gm with sub-100k miles. It really doesn't matter if the engine is higher output here or there. The truck is a 2500 so the stronger engine won't make a diff. because of the strength of the frame etc. compared to a 3500.

I used to work at a 4WD shop here in houston, yeah the suspension gets it pretty hard and its not cheap or easy to replace. depends a lot on how much it was used as a 2500hd too, if lots of hauling and towing and any offroad then its gonna be rough.

for that price, id pass. maybe offer him 7500 for it, def not 13k.
