Default head cast question

i have a 98 camaro 5.7 , my question is can i replaced my heads with 241 cast heads , dont know what heads i have

As far as I know, the only difference is the valve covers.

Don't do it...if you put heads on there put a set of 243s on there.

your heads will be the 806 perimeter bolt style LS1 heads, specific to '97-'98 LS1's. every year after that had center bolt style heads. 853 casting in '99, and 241 casting afterwards. you can pick up a marginal gain by swapping to 241 heads, because they were a little better head, but like stated earlier, swapping to a 243 head (LS6 head) would be your best bet considering how much of a pain in the *** the swap is on an fbody

a valvejob and valve upgrade will put them in the same flow range as a ls2 head. mill them some, cut in valve relives in your pistons, and run with ms or trex cam. and it will make a day and night difference. dont give up them yet.
u will be able to use bigger cams with higher compression, make more power, more rpm and still on pump gas.
