mass air flow ????
mass air flow ???? I just had the tune-up done on my 97SS and as soon as I started it up, the Service Engine soon light is on. I drive it home, and on the highway I can definately feel the difference in power (versus worn stock plugs and wires)but during the drive, felt a stutter like if the intake was leaking air or something.
I make it home and let it sit for an hour or so, then I get ready to leave and the car wont start. Had my friend come over with his scantool, and the only code it gave was for the mass air flow. My friend then proceeds to take the mass air flow off his 2002 pontiac grand prix and puts it on my car. My car started right up , and the code and light came off. Drives fine.
My question is how did the mass air flow off a totally different car work on my car, and am I losing power if I use an extra mass air flow my friend has laying around thats not made for my car? He says he can take the mass air flow sensor off and put it directly on my mass air flow housing and it will work fine.
