Default Now I fit in here

Thanks to a friend on this site(and others), Los (NemeSS) has helped me become a LS owner, i purchased a 6.0 that will be transplanted into my 89 RS, even though i am somewhat out of the dark ages, it will still be carbed

So, lets see if i can make 450 RWHP, only time and selling my old big block **** i was going to use will tell.

That's going to be a nice build.. Do you have and idea of what intake and carb set up you will be using?

Victor Jr with a 800 CFM carb i built myself. I am thinking of swapping the 317s for 241s to mill and get more compression. Only thing i can think bad would be the valves being a bit shrouded?

If you're only looking for 450 you shouldn't have to worry about the intake valve being shrouded.

Leave it injected. You will regret going with the carb.

Well, as a friend of mine and I have already built a 6.0 with the Vic Jr and MSD 6LS, we are pleased and content. Runs HARD and we can tune it ourselves with no issues.

Been running carb forever, not gonna change till i magically make enough money to get someone else to take my money for a tune any time i want.

I have read other posts you have made on this topic in other threads and you do have some very strong points. However, sometimes it's all for the fun of it and the way the crowd will react to seeing this type of motor being carb'd. I have done this swap into a 95 silverado and people are like " WHAT THE **** IS THAT "! That to me is priceless... I might not get as good gas mileage as fuel injected and all it's other benefits, But I don't hate it and I don't regret it. My brother had it for a while in El Paso and now I have it and have nothing but positive comments and as far as driveability... AWESOME!

Yea, i have been tuning carbs since i got into y first ride, a 75 TA. The main edge is the fuel economy, but this is a night and weekend car, and i can do all my own tuning with what i have.

I will still be a 6 speed, so mileage is not going o be as bad as the TH350 guys and what not.

About time! I'd punt the carb idea, EFI can be done cheaply nowadays. EFI isn't just good at fuel economy, it is also better at part-throttle drivability as well as reliable starting in all weather conditions.

i dont think mpg will be that big a deal. besides its nice to keep going faster at the track with just changing out a few small brass parts and a screwdriver.

Well, i have been a carb guy forever and i know how to tune them. I have 0 EFI software and dont want to mess with injectors and TBs and mass air meters and expensive intakes and blah blah blah, i cannot fathom EFI being anywhere as cheap as my carb setup.

But yea, if it was a DD car, i might consider it, but i am full of ****, i hate EFI. LOL, it has its ups, but i have been to meets where the H/C/I guys are dying from cold starts while my carb that is chokeless and just fattened up a bit for the idle mixture blasts right up and keeps running. Then i get to talk ****

That just means your friends had someone shitty do their tune. I bet I can edit and upload a new engine control file than you can change out jets and re-tweak the carb. It might take me 1 minute.

Gotta take it one step at a time with Zane, give it another 10 years, he may come over to the fuel injection side.

Good deal! I say do what you want, I am a EFI guy now for sure. I did hate having to wait ti have someone else tune my cars, but now that I am doing most of it myself its a lot better. Not a professional by any means, but I am getting better and I can do my cars so its nice like Tony said etc...

For sure, if i had the cash, i would be EFI any day, that is the truth.

But like i said, the intake, injectors, rails, MAF, TB and all that adds up to ALLOT more than my carb, intake.

yup,
a 750 will fuel a 13sec. car, drop in a 10sec. capable motor and 750 will still fuel it with a few simple adjustments.
where as at least a 500+$ tune along with new injectors will be necessary for same level efi car.
