Computer smart people please help????
Thanks,
i can help you with a series of questions.
do you have any virus protection on the computer?
if you do is it still an active subscription? if not then remove it.
is it norton? remove it either way lol
if you have multiple virus protections remove them until there is only your favorite left
if none of those apply. open up a command prompt and type in:
netsh int reset all
hit enter and type this
netsh winsock reset
then hit enter and the second message should say "You must restart your computer....."
restart it and see what happens.

Start>Settings then right click network connections and select open.
You should have at least one Local Area Connection. Just double click the connection, don't open properties. You should see a Sent/received packets display. Check and make sure the Status is to Connected (don't think it should). Also just by double clicking the Local Area Connection it will automatically enable the device if disabled. Try disabling the connection then re-enabling it. This works with the services and will refresh the application.
Are you using the same cable? Ethernet cables can go bad escpecially when swapped between devices continously.
Personaly if you have two devices that need access I vote to get a router anyways. PS3 supports a G connection so you can find a G class router for around 20-50 bucks, and when you install a supported agent on your PC you will be able to share compatible files to the PS3 such as video and audio files.
Also try this:
1Open the Command Prompt (from the Start button, go to Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt). Or select run in the start menu and type cmd, hit enter.
2In the command prompt window, type ipconfig to see current ip address
3In the command prompt window, type ipconfig /release
4In the command prompt window, type ipconfig /renew
5Exit the Command Prompt by typing exit
This should recontact your providers dhcp server (what gives you an IP).
Still doesn't work, reinstall drivers, that doesn't work time to reimage the CP.

The wireless adapter is USB so you will not need a RJ-45 connector. Only do this if you are 100% sure the 10/100 Ethernet on the motherboard is toast.
G standard is cheap and works fine.

DL it to a thumdrive or burn it to a disk. Should work that way to.
Been doing this **** for years. And on a side note, if you're broke I've got about 10 ethernet cards lying around you can have.
