3G data from Tmobile and ATT are NOT interchangeable. What I currently have is a 2G iPhone from 2 years ago and tmobile phone/data/text. I just bought a 3GS and got a contract with ATT

So you can use tmobile, but only with 2G

I got my tethering profile from peacefullnsanity.com but that got taken down or moved or something. It's probably the same as MyWi.

 

so somehow one of the SMS tones (the mario one's) changed the back ground on the sms screen only. How do you do that??

So you didnt go to help.benm.at/help.php and download the mobile configs? This is what I was talking about the whole time and this can be done on any FW running 3.0.X or earlier and does not require jailbreaking. This is very convenient for people running older FW that do not want to jailbreak but enable tethering.

Anyone ought to check that out running older FW that whats to tether. My roommate has a regular ol 3G and didnt want to jailbreak and I downgraded his FW to 3.0.X and installed that mobile config and his is working flawlessly. So instead of him having to spend $60/month for a network card, he can get 3G on his netbook anywhere he has 3G service for the standard iPhone data charge of $30.

Tethering is awesome on 3G, main reason I bought the 3GS, on EDGE, it is faster on the computer than the phone due to the processor speeds, but I cant wait to use it on my 3GS

That is a website you go to on safari from you iPhone and download the proper mobile configs and then go to network settings and turn tethering on.

BUT

It only works on 3.0.X or OLDER FWs

so if anyone has anything newer, MyWi is the way to go, or PdaNet, or various other apps, MyWi should be free though.

I have TOm Tom GPS for free, an assload of games. An App called Lexi-Comp...The complete set is like 1200 bucks give or take with a PDA. All free via a jailbreak and syncing cracked apps. Tethering is available as well. Changing your ringtones, backgrounds. I can get into your phone with an app and see all your files and even modify itunes to allow you to sync with multiple friends itunes by making the ID's all the same.

 

myWi is only free for 10 times... but then I guess you can just redownload it.

 

now there just needs to be a app to send some person a text via bluetooth or something... lol in those awkard spots so you can break the ice!! ha ha ha what a bar trick that would be!

 

I dont use MyWi or PDAnet on my 3GS 3.1.2 firmware to tether. Theres a file from another repository you download to your phone, reset your network settings and it makes it a toggle.

 

There already is a cracked app for that.
