What did you use to add 5 docked icons and the temp to the status bar? 
I use iPhone "Modem" to tether my laptop when traveling, and it was only like $10 - for how much its used, well worth it. I have to run iPhone modem on my laptop and phone... it creates an wireless adhoc network to connect the two - I'm not sure if the other apps do that or not, it was kinda weird at first to figure it out. The speed isn't too bad on 3G, faster than most airport wifi connections actually...
blackra1n, by far the easiest/quickest jailbreak nowadays.

In cydia search for Five Icon Dock and WeatheIcon (from ModMyi), when your done installing both of them just drag an app to the bottom for Five Icon Dock. For the WeatherIcon go to your settings scroll down and the app is there, tap on it to open go to Status Bar and turn on Show Image and Show Temp. Then when your done go to your home screen and it should show up.
Another cool thing.. cydia search hackulos and add the repository. Install Installous.. It will allow you to install cracked apps directly to your iphone on the go. Im on 3.0 modded for text messaging and tethering. I see no reason for me to upgrade to anything more.

Sorry if this was covered. But another reason to jailbreak. If you have a slingbox you can fool the phone into thinking you're on wifi when you're on 3g and you can watch tv using 3g. Slingbox FTW, but your battery will die in about 30 mins.

I would also recommend the Make It Mine app, you can change where it says AT&T to whatever you want, or put something other than the time at the top.
