just ran into an ls1 6 speed . not even close somehow i was surprised. I gave encountered a few more that were 6.0's better race. but you just cant out shift an auto

ive had experience with both:

raced an 04 gto on the highway once and was ahead by a car before we shut it down at around 100 or so. basically stock except for a cai, spintech muffler ( not even a whole catback), and a tune.

but then there was the 6.0 ... we started at about 30 or so and i jumped ahead, but then he came back...... it was bad, real bad lol. that was back when all the car had was that stupid muffler, so it was before i raced the 04

i know this thread is about 1/4 mile times, but i havent made it out to the track yet and i have yet to come across a gto at a stoplight.
