Damn... I'm having the same issue. Hopefully it's just the filter.

Me too. Gonna change the oil and filter this week. Gonna try a Purolator and get rid of the Fram and see what happens.

im havin the same oil pressure signs with my car.. starts up at bout 40 then after gettin hot its 24-26ish and sometimes drops a little lower like 20-22 but comes back up to 24-26.. wot throttle up to bout 5k rpms im just barely over 50psi (havnt went over 5k rpms)... usually when im driving say im bout 2000 rpms im sittin bout 35psi.. 2500 rpms im bout 40psi (thats not gettin on it just keepin it bout those rpms)..

ive made an appointment to get my oil pump changed cause i was thinkin that it may have some lil shavings as my cam backed out due to the original shop not using locktite when the cam was installed!! .. car runs flawlessly other then that!! im gonna change my oil to and see what that does for me!

I have the same issue. At WOT warm, i used to get 60psi now it wont pass 50psi. When the car warms up at idle i the needle tends to be kinda jumpy from 30-35psi. Hit the gas and it moves up to 40psi. I bought a new oil sending unit and melling high volume pump but im going to wait to throw it on when i do a cam swap.

The one concern i have is that if its not my oil pump or sending unit it could be that my motor is leaking on the cylinder walls. I guess i need to research how to do a leak down test. Anybody know how?

Same problem her a couple years ago and ended up being my cam retainer plate. The little gasket had blown out and the bolts had come loose. Put in a new one and now i have massive oil pressure. Just throwing that out there. I have a post out there with some pics.

Yea, when i put my cam in i replaced the cam retainer plat with a new one and used loc tite on the bolts, but my pressure has not went below 30 lbs at idle, cruising it is about 35 at 1800+/-, and i have been beating the **** out of it so i am going to have to call it good.

FIXED!

Changed oil and used a Mobil 1 filter. Expensive filter but well worth the peace of mind.

Thanks for all the input guys!

have any of the posters with the ideas of changing out their oil pumps and dropping their oil skillets and what not done and actual pressure test. where you install the oil filter adapter and use a manual gauge to read the pressure? just wondering. oh btw, delco filters are reallly good... i mean they do put them on at the factory. just sayin. lol

my first vette wasnt built motor but heads cam and i ran the 15 50... this new one has a built motor.. tx speed recommended not puttin synthetic in it for like 1k miles or so and so i still run the castrol (ide feel dumb if it was synthetic haha)

where can you get this k&n extended filter you speak of...

UPDATE:

Before tearing into it I decided to do the simplest thing, change oil filter and oil. Went with mobile 1 filter and oil (special at autozone). So far the car is holding up pretty good. Hasnt seen less than 40 psi at idle and about 60 at WOT. Thanks for everyone's insight.
