Question 3d blue ray

so looking to get a new lcd tv and heard that you could watch 3d movies on blue ray. called frys electronics, and i was told you need a special blue ray player to play movies in 3d. Also heard you need a lcd tv that runs at at least 120 hz refresh rate to watch 3d movies. wondering how much truth to all of this and who has the best deals on all this stuff.

You need a 3D ready TV. A regular Bluray player with a 3D movie. You need the special 3D glasses for your TV. I think Crutchfield will probably be your best bet to get all this as soon as it comes out. I believe you can pre-order everything from Crutchfield. ESPN and Discovery will be releasing their 3D channels in July on Comcast. Probably not every Comcast city will get the channels right away. I have been researching for a while, because I still have an old school 70 inch projector tv that I am ready to trash. But, everytime I think I am ready for the newest tv, something else better comes out. I could be wrong about some of this, or all of this. This is just what I have read in my research.

Best Buy has a 3D Tv on the front of this sundays ad. Comes with battery operated 3d glasses. You do need a special DVD player but if you own a PS3, they will be releasing a firmware upgrade via internet in one of their updates to give it this capability. There are several DLP Tv's that have been out for quite some time that are 3D ready. I have one by Mitsubishi.

We sell all this where i work. you need a 3D ready tv, 3D bluray player, 3D bluray, and 3D glasses. In my opinion, it looks ALRIGHT at best. When we had the 3d hooked up to the 82" dlp, it looked WAY better because the dlp uses a projector, and the images actually came out at you. On the LED tv, they were confined to the screen itself, so it looked 3d, but the images wouldn't come out at all.

We have a deal right now where if you get the 3D tv and bluray player, you get a 3D starter set for free which includes 2 pairs of 3D glasses, and "Monsters vs Aliens" in 3d.

On that 82", what equiptment/settings in tv were on there. I have a 73" of that same brand and was curious what your demo consisted of.

Word of advice from a Bestbuy Insider: Wait for the technology to improve.

It is in its infancy right now, there are too many small problems with the whole setup to truly enjoy the experience. It is NOTHING like the movie theaters. And the only 3D worthy movie (Avatar) is not getting release till next year, as they are promoting it their "Avatar Ultimate Edition". 2D avatar will be available come November. Just my .02.

Pretty sure you need a new 3D tv plus the 3D dvd player and special glasses.

I picked up the new Samsung 55" LED tv the other day and it is awesome. I might eventually go back and get the 3D dvd player but not until I go back to work.

Anyone need a designer????

I'll have to ask my Mitsubishi rep what settings he used. It looked awesome though. Hell, he might be on this site. He drives an '02 Firehawk, lol.
