Default P to V

What is the largest cam you can run in an LS2 GTO with stock heads and rockers? Also what can you do to increase P to V? Thanks

Biggest depends on what you want out of the car, P to V clearance equals fly cutting your stock pistons. Some say the biggest is the 3/4 race cam.

Do you have longtubes and or any other bolt-ons? Shoving a donkey dick cam in heavy *** car like a GTO is recipe for shitty time slips and getting your *** cracked on the street...but it sure will sound mean! I would stick to a cam with 8 degrees or less of overlap if this is your daily driver. There are several factors that determine P to V, not just lift, you have to consider the amount of advance ground into the cam along with duration as well..

Same here, but I bet mine is still different. In my world P2V is the term for taking a physical computer and converting it to a virtual machine.

Yeah, I'm a nerd.

I work in IT and work with VMWare quite often. Looked over and thought I was logged into our ticket managment system, aka remedy. Had to take a double look.

ROFL...sounds like the Texas Giant or darn close, that is for big cube motors, good luck with that on stock cubes, heads etc...

Its a little bigger lol but he wants it to sound like a dragster and I'm gonna build him a set of heads next year at school so that will help some once I actually do it.

Putting that cam in stock displacement LS2 is pissing in the wind, even with heads. He would need 400+ cubes to benefit from that cam. That monster has 27 degrees of overlap and is going to be a nightmare to tune in any drivability with a stock motor. He can get good performance and a choppy idle from a smaller cam that won't **** his drivability.

If he just wants the dragster sound but still drivability why not just drop the lobe seperation and increase the duration split? You don't need to put a cam in that big just to get the sound. My 02 had a reverse split cam with a 110 Lobe sep. and it loped pretty hard. Personaly I would have gone with a trex or somthing along those lines MAX. They are proven to work with stock heads. That thing is going to be a dog out of the hole and he'll probably have to raise his idle way over 1k rpms. Plus if it's a daiy driver he'll need new valve springs at least once a year depending on miles driven.

spot on, heavy *** goat with stock gearing is going to be a pig with that cam. I would not be surprised if a bolton goat walked him from a dig. I wonder if this car is an auto or M6? He is going to need a steeper gear either way and stall if its an A4...I would just return the 'mighty maul of the titans cam' and reorder another cam...

Agreed, here is a vid. of my brothers cammed SS TB which also has the LS2. Nasty idle but still drivable, this is the first start up but starts idling at 1.40 in the vid

holy hell!!!!

this guy i know put a 238/242 604/610 112lsa in his stock cubed ls1 goat and that cam is WAAAAAAAAAAY to big for it... he revs that bitch to almost 7K and he only ran a 13.0... sounds good but man if i spent that much on a cam i would want more outta it, he made ~400 to the wheels... not a good choice for your bro, slap him on the head and tell him he's an idiot!
