Default Transocean Deepwater Horizon

Had a blowout and fire last evening, and as far as the shitty news reporting i have been able to find says, is listing and still on fire with 10-15 missing and 7 injured.

Anyone work on this Rig or have family on it?

If so 832-587-8554 is the info line that TransOcean has given to call for info regarding friends and family.

I had been on this rig 4 years ago, and fly from the same heliport as these guys......its a spooky feeling really, knowing it could be me.

Keep the injured and missing in your prayers.

No good, I have been on a rig with an electrical fire, but a blow out is really bad. Very rare that it happens deep sea, but does happen. Transocean is better then most these rigs, because atleast when you go to the primary muster station you don't have to wear PPE. Most these dumb *** companies want you to have your boots and hard hat on, waste of time you dont have as so many people, have to go to the change room and grab their stuff.

Guy here on my platform has some pictures of it blazing. It is crazy, it could happen to any of us. From what I understand they found the missing men.

I was on this rig last year doing an MPD job, it’s hard to think about this knowing it could happen at any time to any one I hope they find everyone. I just came off the Chevron and it not too far from where this rig was, and out there we were taking some nasty kicks.

The report that they found the missing persons was erronous.....11 still missing, also the report that they might have been seen in a liferaft is now believed to be false as well.......Im guessing they never made it. Flames were averaging 200ft, i highly doubt that the rig made a full muster, and id bet a few dollars that it was fend for yourself pretty quickly and they didnt make it.

I design Offshore equiptment such as Trees, HPUs, THPUs, TUTAs. etc.. I have never been on a rig but have a lot of respect for those who have. May God bless the missing Men & Women and their families and I'm praying they find them safe.

The company I work for loaded out a bunch of our heavy equipment to respond to the fire along with several members of our service department today around noon. We sent two 6000gpm portable firewater pumps (800hp Caterpillar diesel powered) along with two 6000gpm fire monitors (water canons). There may have been more sent that I didn't see being loaded. They should be arriving any time now to help suppress the fire.

We are an industrial fire fighting equipment/service company who deals with these types of fires on a regular basis.

I hope for the best for everyone involved with the fire. Some of the best responders in the world are on their way right now.

From the pictures it looks like they had all the fire fighting stuff loaded on to work boats. Whats good and bad is, any deep water rig always has a boats floating around so if some thing went wrong, you wouldn't be on a life boat long before one of those boats could pluck you out. That's a life saver in it self if seas are bad.

That's only 12000gpm. Will that be enough? I'm pretty sure that a fire like that is putting out a **** load of BTU's.

I hope everyone involved comes home safe.

Terrible news for our industry, condolences to those lost and their families. Just to illustrate the magnitude of this blaze, here are some photos I received from someone nearby.
