Uncle Julio's or Papasito's Cantina for THE BEST STEAK FAJITAS OF YOUR LIFE...they both use the same marinade or something very close to each other...don't even waste your time anywhere else...seriously. Papasito's has 1/2 price fajitas for 2 on wednesday night after 5...but if anyone goes tomorrow (May 5th)...1/2 price deal is all day. Uncle Julio's has better salsa in my opinion, but steak fajitas are a coin toss between the two. There is an Uncle Julio's very close to where you are staying, John...across the street from Bob's Steak & Chop house...which i recommended for the Steak House, but Nick & Sam's is sorta in the same area, probably closer to you.
OK, i'm done.

I think what you should also look up is some good BBQ places. Just like Texas don't know good pizza, Italian beef or dogs...Us Illinois raised people don't know what good BBQ is. I love the BBQ places down here. My favorite one is this one place a friend took me to in McKinney, i'll have to find out the name of it...

Del Frisco's is good but it did not live up to the top 5 IMO
Plus it isn't exactly near the convention center. If you are wanting to meander from downtown/uptown, Old HIckory at the ******* is also excellent.

Sorry it took me so long to come back to the threads... thx for the ideas. I love BBQ a lot, I make my own rubs, have a smoker etc., so that's cool too.
I have Fogo de Chao in Chicago, been there loved it.
Texas Road House, is that a national chain... peanut shells on the floor? I think I've been to a few.
