Had some guys in a truck (explorer I think) approach me when I was washing my car a few months ago at a car wash (near Myerland) and said the same thing. They even said they had a receipt and everything. I was like no thats ok I already have one and I live in a small apartment and don't have room, they still tried to push it on me and then drove off.

I believe I might have had the same people that approached the op approach me about 3wks ago. A New Black Ford F150 with huge chrome rims. They had the same story about how they were given extra audio equipment that they were trying to sell it.

My spidy sense was immediately aroused.

Il admit it that I was a little scared, but Im confident in my kung fu

Ha....This use to happen all the time in Dallas a few years back. Some people actually purchase the items only to return home with bricks in the box. Generally they only show you a few items so that it looks legit and because they're excited about a great deal never check the remaining boxes. Funniest thing I ever saw was one of those guys trying to sell items to an off duty police officer, once he presented his badge I never saw a Ford van drive off so fast.

I have had this happen to me twice..... once years ago on westheimer/chimney rock, it was around 98/99. I was in my old 5.0 coupe when a van rolled up next to me in traffic, the driver hung his head at the window and gave his sales pitch. I told him no thanks and rolled out. Then this happened again a year ago give or take as I was going to lunch near the Northwest Mall on mangum headed towards hempstd hwy, but as the first time.... I was in my car, this time the F-body, basically told him to pound sand and took off.

Just a reminder to always stay alert, especially in this city. You can legally carry in your car without a CHL now, but I would still go an get that CHL so you can carry on your person as well...

keep a few counterfit $100 bills stashed in your vehicle. Offer them whatever you have and scam them back. either you get a set of shitty speakers for free, or a box of bricks. either way they are SOL, and can maybe get snagged at a store with the counterfits.

This happened to me and a friend on mine a few years ago. I didnt buy it and called bullshit. He got upset and tried getting in my face about it. I stood my ground (young but in good shape! Miss those days haha) and told him to do something. Saw that it was two of us and one of him so he backed down. My friend on the other hand (dumbass) thought it was a good deal even though i called BS. Went for it, i was smart enough to open all the boxes, went we got back to my place he checked them out and were actually pretty good. He was all smug about it till a few months later the remote went out and that was the only way they worked haha.

The box (Kinetic Surround Sound) has a MSRP of $2,495 and he kept telling me that his warehouse gave him extras and that he couldnt take them home and sell them. To make a long story short these two guys pressured me into buying the system and I gave them $200 so they would leave me alone. They pressured me enough to make my life feel threated to an extent. I get the system home and its complete junk and hardly turns on. I am a pretty smart person when it comes to scams but when my life feels almost threatend I dont feel that $200 was much of a loss.

Please spread this to all your friends and family and dont get scammed like I did. I wish I would have had my handgun on me to put the pressure back on these guys.
same thing happened to me last yr..1960 and 45... i was at a red light windows down i think it was a black truck either oklahoma or florida plates cant remeber, anyway bald guy says hes got i system for cheap.. ifigure it was a scam so i immedietly put my windows up and left.. seemed like they were following me after 2-3 morelights.. but i lost them ...need to watch out for lowlifes like that...i hate it when guys come up to me at gas stations, you never know what can happen.

Sucks to hear you got took man, get your gun back!

I have had this scam tried on me atleast 3 times, and it is the same tactics used by all of them. Maybe the fact that im 6'4 245lbs makes them not as threatening to me, cause I have always laughed at them and told them to go sell their crap to someone else. I let them know I am fully aware of the scam, and if things go bad then I got something in the car for that.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

It happened to me in Austin back in 1999. I wrote them a check for 200.00 and then cancelled the check 10 min later. When they went to cash the check at a check cashing place, they called me and said the check was no good. I told them look who got scammed now. They were pissed.
