Default Seriously?!

Just thought I would share something the recently happened to me.
About two days ago i had these two kids checking out my car and i see them as i walk up to it in the parking lot. When they notice that it is my car they start talking to me about it and mods. After talking about some things i was thinking about doing (like a cam and headers) they go "why would you do that?! why don't you just get NOZ and then your car will have around 600HP!!!" I just shook my head in disbelief and asked them "IF i was to get "nitrous oxide" would i get wet, dry, or direct port?" they just looked at me and had no idea what i said. After that i just got in my car and drove off without saying another thing. This wasn't the first time it has happened either. What is up with everybody's obsession with "NOS" and "NOZ"?!

65% of people my age (18-20ish) base their automotive knowledge on the movie i like to call "The Fast and the Four-Bangers". I'm pretty sure that's where the whole NOS thing comes from.

If they arent actaully part of the racing/car enthusiast community you can expect this alot.
Or they are ricers.

I would have schooled them in what you were talking about and HELP get another set of misinformed kids a jump into the hobby correctly.

Lol no one ever asks me about my cars, thank God I don't have to put up with that ****. A lot of times there are people looking at them in the school parking lot and it makes me nervous.

Yea it seems like most people my age no absolutely nothing about these cars, but i guess its cause there are 8+ years old. They are always saying things about how I have such an expensive car and that my parents bought it for me as a graduation gift or something while they drive off in their bmw's and mercedes's...but I guess that's just because they don't know what work is?

I got into a fight with this chick at a party about noz/nos. She was so set and stone that its called nos and not nitrous. I had to pull out the analogy on her ***. I really told her "Look girl, Polo is to Nos as T-shirt is to Nitrous." She looked at me like i was an idiot and then screamed at me that i don't know wtf i was talking about and that her dad has nos on his viper. The people around me looked at her and just nodded and walked off as so did i.

im sure most of you guys can admit
before any of the fast and the furious movies
no one knew much about street racing
and there "illegal hang outs"
every one things "nos" makes a hissing sounds when injected thats really loud and can be heard
and cars with major power can make flames 5 inches long come out of the exhuast
and that supras and skylines rule the street no matter what people say
its all just false information leading to the movies.
a friend of mine that is a cop said the street racing scene boosted 45% when the
first fast and the furious movie came out
and i hate how they never show
new mucle they always so old school
and tuner cars
i wish i could see a new age camaro (4 or 5 thn gen) pop out in one of there movies
or a ls1 trans am

I hear you there. It seems like not near as many kids are interested in the hobby now as there were in the late 90s-early 2000s. I drive a 5.0 in my 95 Cobra and there's only one other kid who I graduated with that even remotely has any sort of interest in cars...
