Jobs said in his presentation that the pricing would be the same if you signed on for 2 more years. I think though your contract had to end this year for that to work though....

otherwise I bet they are 499 and 599....

Just dual boot it. In alpha, they have a dual boot iPhone 3G and 2G and 3GS is a work in progress, but they have a mostly functioning Android OS on an iPhone in dual boot mode, so you can continue to use your phone in stock form.

Also, the new iPhone will be compatible for speeds up to ~7 Mbps Down and ~5 Mbps up, once the carriers support it. Plus zoom camera, HD video, LED light, a new gyro for 6 axis motion, and other crap I cannot think of.

Same here, AT&T has gotten too arrogant because of the iphone, while other carriers are starting to pass them up. I switched and picked up the HTC EVO 4G. Best..decision...ever. I pay $50 less per month with this badass and everything is unlimited

Mine got so slow almost instantly after breaking it I un jailbroke it the next day. I love my iphone and cant wait for the new one, but whats the deal with the HTC EVO yall are talkin about? Is it the **** or what????

I just got my 3gs a few months ago. I'll have to wait. My wife is eligible for an upgrade soon. Maybe I can give her my 3gs (she currently has a 3g) and get the 4g for myself.

for the first while you cant even buy the phone out of contract. for every iphone that comes out they always have it to where you have to sign a contract. then after 6 months or so they open it to the public. i just remember seeing that my 3gs 32gb was like 699.00 out of contract, but i paid the 299 with contract. (this was the day of release btw)

I just prefer the speed and the expandable flash storage. It has an 8 mega pixel camera, which is better than most digital cameras. Plus the 1ghz snapdragon processor and 512 mb of ram doesn't hurt.

At&t cell service just doesn't seem applicable (although I do have uverse), and they are about to remove their unlimitted data plan and charge by the byte.

Last fact, is I can't stand Steve Jobs. The extent of my apple gear is an Ipod nano, which ran fine until their last update.

yup mine has gotten progressivly slower since i jail broke it. Oh well. I have the iPad 3g, and the new iPhone has the same processer. If you have not played with the iPad you gotta see this chip! it's freaking fast as ****! I love pages so fast it's insane, and now that chip in my phone FTW baby!!
