That car made 498 HP at the crank 432 rwhp when it had a ls6 intake. Now has ported fast 90 intake and tb so if you don't think he pushing over 500 crank HP I can bet you money it is. Plus a 228r cam is not small its 588 lift its still a aggressive cam. Just because its not over 600 lift don't make it small and Cams with a duration of over 220ish with lift in .570+ range are considered aggressive. I have had stock ls1, to a bolt on ls1, cam only ls1 and head and cam ls1 with different setups I know You can run a ls2 chain. Not saying it won't hold but a double roller is better insurance period. You don't need a big cam to break the timing chain. Hitting the rev limiter or a mis shift can break a chain also even with a 228r cam

That's good insurance having a double roller timing chain anyone can tell you that I mean its keeps everything together and lala car is making 500+ motor HP like having dual valve springs. You really going to trust single springs ? What happens if it collapse just better to dual springs same goes for the timing chain its always better to run a double roller anytime you run a ls1 making decent power
I remember that lol plus injectors on the wy, double roller on the way, bushings on the way, waiting for next check to get my subframs, n and then swaping rearends

I have the 228r cam and have been impressed with how well it performs. I will have some dyno numbers after my intake is on.

For all guys that say a double roller is not needed, wait until your single chain breaks, you throw a rod, cam seizes and valves bend. I rather spend 100.00-150.00 on a double roller chain, than have a single break and end up paying thousands on a motor. Its cheap insurance, period. Been there, done that.

And yes, LS2 chains break.

The double setup is just good insurance against breakage. No matter what anyone wants to say the double has a much stronger tensile strength than the LS2 chain and won’t stretch as quickly as a single chain.

I agree on double roller as good insurance. Just to chime in though, My old SS had an LS2 chain and beat the crap out of that car for 50k miles and never had an issue. Damn I miss that car

Haha true. No offense to you Shaun at all, I know it was your car at one point. But Lala's racing plus my car with Stage 3 Clutch and a 9" rear built to handle anything (at least until 1000hp lol) + sticky tires = one hell of a nice 4-5k clutch dump on a launch. I will leave the line in my full power band.

Lala will definitely have to play catch up on a 1500 launch.
