I have had my 360 about 6 months after they released, had the RROD 1 time, and has been fine since...but now it is so old i guess, the disc drive has to warm up for 5 minutes before it will read a damn game, LOL.

I have seen Elite Xbox die repeatedly for some reason...?

Anyway, my secret might be that i keep NOTHING surrounding my 360 in the entertainment center, no games cluttering it, DVDs, ect.

Sounds like bad luck to me, i've had mine for about 3 years now and haven't had any problems, thats with 20+ halo tournament and god knows how many lans. OP keep it out in the open and make sure its really ventilated and stand it vertically.

When your on the dashboard, have the little screen up where you would click to start the game. Instead of pushing A, push Y. It will give you some options, and one should be to download to hard drive.

YAY! Another fellow LAN/Halo geek!

Yeah mine has seen its share of Halo Parties and never RROD'd *knock on wood*. I know the man's Xbox has only RROD'd once and that was last year, and his was a first gen Xbox and was constantly on and played Halo/lan daily-weekly.

when you get the 3 rings of death, you have to replace the graphics card.

That's not entirely true. You really should check the error code when you get a Red Ring and then fix the issue accordingly (if it's no longer under warranty). Most of the time it is the issue wherein the motherboard is warping and the solder is breaking contact around either the CPU or the GPU (or both in some cases). The best way to fix this issue (but it is by no means guaranteed to work 100% of the time) is the replace the "X" clamps with screws and washers and then basically overheat the board once more insuring that the solder connection that was broken by the warpage of the motherboard with the "X" clamps is repaired by keeping the board straight with the new screws.

I think my nephews is on it's way to getting the RROD.

He can turn it on and play it for about 10 minutes then it freezes and turns off. NOw it won't even turn on.

Got one on release day. Have now had it replaced 5 times. The original problem was supposedly the graphics chip popping loose due to board flexing from heat. After they claimed they fixed it, I thought I would eventually get a good one, but it seems they keep recycling the repaired ones through! They told me this last time the warranty was out, but I complained because they had just replaced it 9 months ago, and he apologized and didn't charge me.

Nope, they still do. My elite red ringed two months ago. I sent it in and got it replaced for free as it was still under warranty.
