Shoulder Surgery...

Yeah both hips, right in 2002, left 2006. Was in a bad wreck in 94, high speed and sudden stop against concrete culvert, shattered left shoulder blade and right ankle. I had pain in the hip joints but nothing compared to shattered should blade.
Long story short lost blood flow to the ball of my femur bone and over the years they collapsed and tore up the cup. Result full replacement both sides.
If your friend was an emergency type replacement it may have taken longer to get him on his feet. I was very happy with the results almost immediate relief.
BTW hope all is going well with you. If you have insurance request rehab, it should be covered plus it will help in long term recovery and best results.

my friend and lifting partner had to have major rotator cuff repair in right shoulder. he was a competing powerlifter and looked like the strong men in the worlds strongest man shows. he recovered. but he will never be able to train heavy again. it really affected his self esteem. since he drop alot of mass and size. and can no longer work out like he used to.
good luck

Nah man surgery is awesome lol, they take care of you and give you drugs that make you feel awesome!! lol seriously i like surgery, it's the 12hours to a year later that suck. I haven't had shoulder surgery, my dad had his scoped but still had a lot of rehab. Just do it right or you will be back on that table. I have had Tommy john (lovely gift from all my years of pitching) and 2 years following, scar tissue removal and flexor tendon repair/reattachment. Stretching that mother out was the worst experience of my life...
But follow the programs and take of it and you'll be good as new! Good luck man.

i have had knee surgery 10 different times(4 point scopes) over the years, and once on my wrist, and days 2-5 are always the worst. just take the Vicodin every 4 hours if you hurt or not. waiting till you start to ache before taking one makes for an agonizing hour or so.
rehab is key like everyone has said, i still have 98% range of motion and 95% comparison strength.
-And for the people questioning why the hell i have had 10 surgeries on my knee, google PVNS.
