I think Dickies or Ribcrib would be the McDonalds of BBQ FWIW.

I like Goode Company, Salt Lick, and Rudy's. Rudy's is consistent each time I go and its right down the street so I go there a lot, smoked turkey and pulled pork usually. I go to Goode's when I'm in Houston, had a turkey sandwich there last time and it was perfect, probably the best I've ever had actually. Next time I'm near Austin I'll go to Salt Lick again, I thought it was really good.

There are some other small-time places locally to me that are pretty decent. I make my rounds every week.

Ok im new to Houston and Texas but i will say that PAPPAS BBQ is THE WORST **** i have ever had in my life. On the other hand Hungry Farmer is legit, some of the biggest potatoes i have ever seen!

Salt Lick is great but for the title of "best" I would probably have to go with either Kreutz Market or Blacks in Lockhart.

Goode company, hands down. It's unbeatable. Jalapeno cheese bread chopped beef sandwich. You can't beat the quality of the meat and the sauce, kills salt licks sauce and rudy's sauce. Eating both right now with BBQ Turkey and Chops we made earlier tonight. No comparison.

Now I'm looking forward to my first meal at Bone Daddy's
At least the drive and scenery will make it worth the time.
