Default 99 model truck lsx 5.7L

So I am talking to a guy and says he is looking for a 5.7L lsx and I go to tell him it will have to be out of a camaro/trans am/vette/gto. He starts to tell me he bought a truck from the dealership with an lsx based 5.7L engine. I didn't want to be an *** so I tried to explain to him that I had never heard of a 5.7L lsx based engine in a truck. Is there such a thing? I told him it must be something special but I want to educated myself and find out the truth. I have called the auto parts store and they don't have anything in the system for a 5.7L lsx based truck. I know they changed over on body style in 99 but was there actually a 5.7L lsx truck engine made?

nope. there is only a 4.3L V6, 4.8L/5.3L/6.0L V8 (gas)
there was however, a 1999/2000 model with a 5.7L Vortec (LTx like in the 95-98 trucks) in Mexico.

yeah 1999-2000 there was the 5.7 Vortec. it's a POS though, only slightly better than a LTx motor. hell maybe not even.

The full size SUVs didn't switch till '00, but the new style truck came out in 99, so I guess thats where the confusion comes from.

So 5.7 LSX based are the words he's using? Is it the like the '96 body style or the '00. You could still get a classic body style that year with the 5.7 (Vortec 350).

Sounds like to me hes got a 4.8/5.3 in the silverado. If the LSX based thing was a selling point from the salesman, he probably paid too much for it.

He said it was the new body style truck. He said it was an ls motor. The issue was he was looking for a replacment engine for his camaro and it has a ls1 5.7L and that he wanted a 5.7L out of a truck. I told him good luck on that.
