Most an fittings are a standard thread size. 1/2-20, 9/16-18 or whatever. Find a bolt that screws in it, take it to the hardware store and find a tap.

well one side is pipe and the other side is flare, jic, basically standard pitch. The pipe thread has a special tap. The other side should be its true measurement

I was under the impression that an fittings have to screw into other an fittings or they wont seal, in order to screw it into something else you get a fitting thats an on one side and NPT on the other, then tap your hole with the NPT tap and go with it.

FWIW, oreilly usually has the board that you can screw stuff into and find the measurement.

The 3/8 NPT side will seal because it is a tapered thread.

the -6 side thread pitch
9/16-18"

the 3/8 NPT side thread pitch
3/8 NPT

thats just it, 3/8 NPT. that specifyes the exact thread and size. Just remember, NPT has a taper so dont tap it too deep or it wont work right. If you dont want to do that, they also make weld on fittings for like 10 bucks, take it too any weld shop and have em buzz it on.

Most NPT threads take 11 turns to gauge right. We do this all the time at work.

You have to go to Sears or Northern...And if they dont have it for whatever reason..Find you a Snap On Truck nearby. Sometimes a large plumbing specialty store or a bolt supplier will have a tap for it. Fastenal is an option as well.
