My Sunset Orange SS was an SLP car with all the options, slp black wing air lid, stage II bilstein susp, CME, floor mats, key chain. Poor car after I sold it became possessed someone backed into it, my brother hit a couch on 59, and then the 3rd owner finally killed it when a drunk driver rear ended him putting it in a ditch nose first....sad sad car..in some junk yard picked apart now Im sure..

None came with longtubes from the factory, those are aftermarket from SLP. Same goes for the y-pipe, strut bar, frame connectors, and "cold air induction" (under the lid induction in your terms). I take it you bought yours used and someone had added those...

when you have a damn near mint condition 14 year old 97 SS(1 of 396 black T-top 6 speeds, and only 3000 ever made) yes it does matter; It may not matter to you but it does to some people,so lets just keep our negative commits to our self....

So were all ss hoods painted at slp then sent to gm or were the cars painted then sent to slp and got the hoods painted and installed?? Cause you can definantly tell on every ss that hasn't been repainted that the hood was painted separately from the rest of the car!!

Same here. Mine's a base SS, but I called SLP myself and got all of the info, build number, etc. I've heard that only the upgraded SS's went to SLP, and those are the ones that got the sticker, but if my car never went to SLP, then why do they have records on it? I don't know...

this is 100% true. i just had a long ordeal with my 35th le slp ss in the "Special Edition Vehicles" section. I did a lot of research and called slp. they can only tell you the GM build number, and original color of your car. TWS is right if it has the WU8 code its an SS.

i've never been able to find an slp sticker on my car, but i do have the build number along with a birth certificate and window sticker directly from SLP..made a nice birthday present from the girlfriend..
basically, im in the same boat as rooster.
edit: as far as the hood/spoiler paint, i know particularly on my car, you can tell that they were painted differently, somehow, than the rest of the car. they have a very slightly different finish.. yet the spoiler and hood match perfectly.
