all of this definately sounds consistent with other people's stories I know. stock parts reused after paying for aftermarket or stock parts after providing the aftermarket parts to them. duct tape mods and missing bolts that hold the tranny to the engine. lol

oh ya that reminds me. when i took the engine down to a longblock to pull it out from the top, none of the bolts were in the right spot. a bunch of random bolts were used where the header bolts are supposed to go, which means stripped out header bolt holes, which means exhaust leaks. and there were flywheel bolts holding up the tranny crossmember.

oh the memories.

my favorite is the duct taped hole on a customers vette. cutout a hole to change fuel pump, then duct taped it back

Quite a few people received the "duct tape mod" one of em even got a "stage 98593" built trans and when it broke and was taken to another shop it turned out to be a stock 4l60e with a shift kit, they forgot his tranny and flywheel bolts also

funny you should mention that.

here's my duct tape mod:

I've also had similar experiences with their "built" transmissions, and their "tunes" and their "professional installation", and their wiring etc etc etc.

I could go on and on about those jackasses, and I'm just waiting for the day that karma catches up with Owen Priest.

Randy, I posted at the same time as you, but I think we had the same duct tape mod and "built" transmission in mind

What a joke of a shop.....I think that we should hire a few "Good Guys" to go around these shops and give them a little uninvited welcome and show them how we really feel. Im sure after a few of these visits that this type of work would finally stop or they would just close up shop all together.

This same thing happened to my buddy. He went through 4 of those Owen "built" trannys and his car was cam only.

Hahah, I didn't know it was called the duct tape mod! I had about 4-5 individual rectangular pieces cut out of my trunk when they replaced the fuel pump, then they duct taped them back together and put a layer of tape down over the cuts and holes. No wonder it wreaked of gas in my car!

I too also had about half of the bell housing bolts missing up top, they just didn't put them in, at all.

This is Jay's idea of a "brand new" painless harness:

Another favorite of mine, their transmission work, this is the pump shaft that the converter chewed up when it was bouncing back and forth on that 4L80E plate:

Anyone else got stories? If nothing else maybe this will show up in a search for advanced racing dynamics and people will think twice about going there, and they won't have to go through what the OP has.

ARD installed my 3200 stall only to have it cook 3rd and 4th gears due to the tranny not being tuned for the stall and they forgot to install the tranny cooler along with it. the fat guy came out to where i lived and towed it back to the shop and then charged me for a stage 1 rebuilt....i think i only payed liek 1200 plus the 300 for the stall install. and ive still have issues with the tune ever since then but im not taking it back there. waiting for the tranny to go so i can install a perfromabuilt one

i also helped a buddy of mine look at a yellow 2010 camaro they did. h/c car with the gmpp single plane intake. had a real bad studder at part throttle. we searched for vac leaks and the usual things. come to find out, the had cut the harness for the throttle body, and extended it using red butt splices. worst part was, all the splices had copper showing, and a whole roll of black electrical tape around it. could not believe what we found. we took a pic, i need to find it and post it up here
