Technically, yes. But with the invention of e-bay, superchargers can be electronic.

I guess technically, water pumps are belt driven too, but they have electronic water pumps as well...

It looks like it pulls air in... fan seems to move very fast... from the leaf blower video on the ranger truck... it has me doubting now...
