I live in Houston tx and my Camaro will not pass inspection due to some mods
that i of course ONLY use off road

My camaro is a 94 and of course they do the whole stick the probe in the exhaust thing.

Well recently I went to a place Out of the Harris county limits to get an inspection, total cost was $15.00. All the guy did was check my insurance and my lights. And slapped on a new sticker I was in and out in 5 minutes.

Now my buddies said if a police officer pulls me over he will give me a ticket because i have just a "Safety inspection sticker" not the whole emissions and safety inspection sticker.

Mine looks exactly like anybody elses but i guess because its out of harris county limits hes not required to test emissions.

Can any one confirm this?

If you live in a emissions county you have to have your car inspected by a emissions county.

If they see you went out of your way to get it inspected somewhere else they can **** with you about it.

The county is printed on the sticker. You can get away with it until they look a little closer.

And just FYI they will ticket you for it.

You HAVE to get the car inspected in the county it is registered in. Or at least it used to be that way.

I use to think the same, but apparently here in Lubbock, TX (no emissions) if I just show proof of address that I am living here to the inspector they will inspect it for safety only (and it is registered in Harris county). IDK if they are dumb or what, but they do it all over the place here.

That being said, I'm sure it is allowed if I stay in Lubbock until the inspection expires. If I were to go back to Houston, I could get in trouble

I remember when I was an inspector we could do a safety inspection on a vehicle from an emissions county, but they had so many days (like 30) to get the emissions testing done in their home county for a separate sticker.
