I need a favor from someone near Austin Texas!!
My brother is pretty interested in this car:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicle-c...anv-cheap.html
But, he would really appreciate it if someone would run out there and check it out before he makes the trip down there...just to be sure its legit...especially the part about how the motor is an LS6.
He said he give whoever like 50 bucks or whatevers reasonable.
Heres his number:
636 698 4537, call or text him
GOD BLESS TEXAS!

Hmm... well no F-bodies came with LS6 motors, some from 01-02 came with LS6 blocks, but with slightly different internals and PCV system. So unless he had one of those rare cars that came with LS6 blocks, rebuilt the engine with LS6 pistons/rods, and converted to a LS6 PCV system, then it's still an LS1, technically. Also, if you look at the head casting # on one of the pictures, they are 241s. LS6 heads are 243 castings.
I wouldn't mind tagging along with you Charlie, just to check it out...

Also, I think a few 2002's actually came with the LS6, but of course, the first place I'd check would be the RPO codes on the door, that'll tell you what it came with...stock.
I've also read that some engines that grenaded during their warranty period may or may not have been replaced with LS6's. But, that's just a rumor...

FWIW I found a thread he started with dyno numbers:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...se-normal.html
There isn't a sheet but he said it made 348.46hp and 368.88tq with LT's a lid and tune basically. With no mention of it being an ls6...I wonder if he is just confused since the 01-02's had an ls6 intake, and he thinks that makes his an ls6...
Are those LS6ish numbers?

2001
1. A small percentage of 2001 and 2002 LS1s actually had LS6 blocks which had a different part number and a darker metal cast
2. Starting 2001, all LS1s came with an LS6 intake manifold without an EGR system
3. Advertised HP output was changed from 305 to 310 on base LS1s and from 320 to 325 on WS6s and SSs
4. 2001-02 cars have a smaller cam from the Vortec truck engines to increase low end torque
5. 2001-02 cars had 28 lb fuel injectors like the 98 cars (albeit different part numbers)
6. WS6 cars had a redesigned 5 spoke rim which was more wavy
7. WS6 cars got less suspension upgrades from a base Trans Am suspension than previous years
8. Manual transmission cars came with upgraded clutch and associated hydraulics compared to the earlier years.
2002
1. 35th Annivesary edition of the Camaro, and Collectors Edition Trans Am available
2. 2002 LS1 head gaskets redesigned. The new ones are a pressed metal, as opposed to the graphite ones and are no longer specific to the side of the car theyre installed on
3. 2002 cars continued with the LS6 intake, 28 lb fuel inectors and smaller truck cam
4. 2002 continued the use of an LS6 block in some LS1 F-bodies
5. A factory supported optional 345 HP option could be ordered from SLP
6. Manual transmission cars continued to use upgraded hydraulics over 98-00 Fbodies.
7. Some 2002 model F-bodies came with a revised rear view mirror that had the map light buttons on the bottom, rather than the front.

i personally know jeff and have seen the car many times, and rode in it
the car is very nice and very clean, but for 50$ ill take a close look and check everything out
also, the heads have nothing to do with what is on the car, from what jeff told me, the car had a ls1, and the motor went bad and the previous owner put in the ls6 block
