Texas Hunting Question I just bought the super combo plus a duck stamp and it was 85$
Does this super combo include type 2 land as well?(land available to the public?)
it seems if you want to deer hunt in texas, you either A. need your own land, or B. know someone who has land
thx in advance. hoping the ducks are plentiful this year. Im happy about the limit being raised to 6!!

It doesnt include the type 2 u have to buy that seperate. It will run u 48 bucks to hunt on type 2 lands. When u purchase the type 2 stamp the parks and wildlife will send u a book of all the type 2 lands that r available to b hunted in the state of texas

That rain we had sure helped and hopefully this cooler air will push some down.
We got into some gadwalls out west this past weekend.
A few buddies were hit and miss north east of here. Wood and Teal was their report.
I think its typical that they really start showing up in this area later in the season.

To hunt type 2 land you have to apply for a permit with Tpw. There is national forest public land then type 2 wildlife reserves. You need the permit for the wildlife reserve, the national forest you just need the hunting license.

thx guys! sucks you gotta buy another permit. oh well. ill be duck hunting in east texas starting sat morning. might jump in a stand sat night and then duck hunt again sunday morning. im hoping for anykind of ducks for the first hunt of the year. ill report back with pics of where we hunt and what not. appreciate the info!!

You can hunt most lakes in TX as long as you stay on water (using your boat as blind), on an island, or public shoreline. Of course you must stay away from populated areas and be respectful of private property. There are lots of those big, unpopulated lakes in E TX. You can also hunt wetland areas of Nat'l Forest without permit. I sometimes hunt 'potholes' in wooded forest land for woodducks. It's a fun, quick-shooting hunt & you can burn a box of shells in no-time. No decoys or calling for this type of hunt, just lots of scouting & walking to get there.
