Question about auto tech jobs in TX

Question about auto tech jobs in TX Ok so I am getting more and more tired of Califuckya in the butt. I am done with school spring '12. Currently going back to school and getting an Associates of Science in Automotive technology with my emphasis being performance vehicles.
My question is how is the job market for performance tech's or hell even GM techs out there? I may look around Austin or San Antonio. I heard Austin was nice and well i know San Antonio from when I was there for 6.5 weeks at Lackland AFB for basic training.
Also what is a nice area to look, housing is dirt cheap compared to out here, I leave near Los Angeles, housing prices are retarded.

Performance anything is hard to get into. It seems to be a "who you know" kind of field.
