Default My first ticket today =(

Well it finally happened got my first ticket today on 59 going 75 in a 60. The cop lady was very nice as I was to her and let me go with 70 in a 60.

I deserved it and have been lucky with 5 warnings so far, but it's time to pay my dues i suppose.

Anyone recommend the best way on dealing with the first ticket? (cheapest way that is)

See if you can take a Drivers Safety Course. It should say someplace on the ticket how to request it.

Thanks!

And no (I believe someone correct me if I'm wrong but...), you would still have to pay the fine. And then pay the cost of taking defensive driving to get it off your record.

If you don't care about what goes on your record then just pay the fine. But... be careful, if you pile up more tickets you'll get hit with a surcharge which is an annual fine on top of your fine for the ticket (which is complete ******* bullshit btw, and should be considered as double jeapordy).

Well you don't have to pay the fine if you do defensive driving, but you have to pay the court costs. Plus the driving class. It will come out to be ~$130. That's the easiest way. Also you can take it to a ticket lawyer and pay them ~$75 to get rid of it, but that usually does not get rid of a ticket anymore, but instead you get defensive driving.

So pay 205 for a small chance of getting rid of it entirely. or pay 130 just to be on probation for a year and waking up at 730am one sat...

You should have just ran from her. That would be a better first ticket story.

Although I wasn't going to, when I was sitting there I was looking at what route I would take if I were to haul *** out of here lol. Then the knocking on the window snapped me out of it.

This is true...I'm not sure on the exact prices but this is your best bet...keep it from going on your insurance and you dont acquire points for the surcharge fee as westtexasbuff mentioned...trust me you dont wanna pay in every year for x amount of years because of the points system...and you really dont want your insurance going up

Take an online DD class. Super easy and you dont have to really waste a whole Saturday but do it on your own time. Ive done it the last two times I got a speeding ticket in TX.

The two places I did online it was SUPER easy. You cant go faster than they allow you but you dont have to sit there and the whole time.

Definitely take defensive driving. And if you can, find a place that offers it in a restaurant of some kind. I got my first ticket a couple years ago and did DD at a pizza buffet and we were fed lunch for free. Its 6.5ish hours of someone lecturing you, but you do get to eat for free.
