Felpro FTW on this.Just like the old 3800 intake gaskets, felpro is much better than GM.. Last time I went to the dealer to see how everyone was doing(father was forced to retire, heart surgury etc) their was a massive *** pile of LS pumps in the floor, I mean probably 65 of them.

ok, i see your point and your right, but....

Not sure if you saw the OP's other thread but this is a 6.0 in an s10 with heads and cam, so Im sure the cooling system is anything but all original.

Nah I didnt see the other post but a 6.0 in a s10 sounds like a sick build.

could you guys go into more detail as to why the 1 dollar/gasket felpro's are better than the more expensive GM gaskets?

as far as our 4th gens go, why wouldnt GM change back to the paper gasket in 2000 if the metal gasket with the rubber doesnt do the job as well?

it just doesnt add up (make sense) to me.

thanks

There are nothing really wrong with the GM gaskets they last about 90k; its just they can be improved and they have been by other companies that's why we prefer the aftermarket gaskets. Why would GM change something that already works? It is not be the best but most of the time it last past the warranty period but if it goes out it makes me/GM more money(so why change something that will make the company more money?).... No car company is going to make something that will last forever.....

Just look at brake pad technology most gm cars will go 120k pulse on pads then look at a ford or dodge by the time they hit 1200k they have had about 3 if not more brake jobs. Why is that? Its not because the technology is not out there...(Its because brake jobs make the company money)

I have thought about going with a higher flow WP also, with the thinking that for some reason #7 runs hotter (FI) and maybe circulating the water a little quicker would help out and keep it a little cooler.

I didn't see one on LMPerformance for an LS1. Anyone know any other suppliers that have them?

I will say this once, circulating water faster is good!

The longer water sits in the radiator the longer it sits in the motor, the faster water moves the cooler it will stay therefore the higher flowing the better.
