What precentage of your monthly income should go to a car payment??

Both my daily combined plus insurance is about 18% at the moment, but my camaro will be paid off after christmas and my daily by the end of 2011. I just personally hate owing money to anyone, thats what kills me so much about my house payment. I would personally rather be cheap and owe nothing then live beyonds my means.
