usually depends on experience and the type of position. i have a buddy that works for them and makes the 8-9 range. another buddy of mine worked for autozone and made quite a bit more than that, and took a cut when he moved to oreilly, but with commission it was about even.
keep in mind though, money's money. if it were me, i'd take the job for now but keep looking.

Commission isn't all that great. There is a large chart in the back that breaks it down. Without going into too much specifics (as I'm not looking at the chart right now), for every thousand dollars of total sales you have during the month, you will get paid an extra 5 or 10 cents an hour. I work part time and usually see an extra $60-80 on my 2nd check of every month, which basically covers most of the taxes I pay during that 2 week period. So in reality the government gets the entire commission + some.
In Texas, the starting pay is 7.50, and raises are generally 25 cents. The parts discount is well worth it though, as you can buy anything at cost. Sometimes it's just a few bucks, or other times it's $80-150 worth of discount.
The work isn't hard, as long as customers give you the correct information. Nothing is more frustrating than a customer that has no idea what vehicle they drive, or tries to get us to diagnose a cars problems. We're not mechanics and we certainly don't get paid to be mechanics, and most customers seem to forget that. Other than that, it's a pretty easy job, especially if you like dealing with cars.
More than likely that sign was up because they're hiring drivers, which deliver parts to installer shops in the area. You can also send in an app on the website which gets forwarded to that areas District Manager. He will forward it to all the store managers who are in need of help.

How have you not found work in the DFW area? How can you not go down a road and NOT see a Now Hiring Sign in this area. Are you worth more than what the market is offering you??

I lived in the Arlington area of Dallas the summer before last and couldn't get **** for work even with a bachelors degree. I wasn't being picky but I wasn't about to sign on for minimum wage either.
Surely things have improved a little but the ******** down there are looking to stiff anyone they hire for $7/hr which was less than my unemployment from being laid off at Circuit City.

O'Reilly's pays about 8-9/hr from the guys I've talked to - you're better off applying to be a sales guy at Firestone or waiting tables. The Firestone at Forest & Greenville is hiring sales guys and pays atleast $15/hr

Only problem i had working at Oreilly when i was fresh out of high school, was the idiots i worked for. And the ones i worked with, ******* retards, i knew more than them and they were always asking me questions when they were with other customers and it was like doing everyone elses job, sucked.

Whats wrong with warehouse life? Didn't like the Hours or what? I would definetly think oreillys is better than not haveing a job. If your looking for a change you might look into getting into a Craft like electrical or Plumbing. Im an electrician and have never been with out a job. "KNOCK ON WOOD" LOL..
