Default Bye Greg Davis

Dont let the door hit you in the *** on the way out.

So overall the shitty season by both of "my" teams has been a success, Philips and Davis are both gone. If we dont do much better next year Ill just have to face the fact that my teams suck and I wont have anything to blame it on

Did you mean davis?

Muschamp isnt going anywhere with him being named as the hc successor, and brown is only going to be around a couple more years, or so he says. muschamp is paid pretty damn well and has a good gig at texas I doubt he goes anywhere. He didnt do so great this year though so some of his sparkle has fadeed a bit.

Good. His play calling sucked. Relied too heavily on the long pass, not short 5-10 yard pickups and running game.

From a different source:
http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/...-just-yet.html
In light of a report that Texas head coach Mack Brown had dismissed offensive coordinator Greg Davis, Chuck Carlton of The Dallas Morning News writes that no decision has been made regarding the fate of the longtime Longhorns assistant.

Mack BrownICONIs Texas head coach Mack Brown looking to make some changes on offense?

A source told the paper Thursday that Brown continues to evaluate the disappointing 5-7 campaign and that no dismissals are in line as of yet. Davis has been Brown’s offensive coordinator at Texas since his arrival in 1998.

Keep in mind that Davis has survived rumors of his demise before, as his firing was reported after the 2003 season. But then again, the Longhorns never really looked as out of sync offensively as they have throughout the 2010 season.
Not saying that he won't "retire" after this season even though he said he wouldn't, but I have a hard time believing Mack Brown will "fire" his best friend. Plus at least one big name booster, Red McCombs, didn't think there should be any coaching changes and was sort of backing Davis. What the super-boosters think is sadly more important than what we do, although basically more want changes than want to keep everyone.

I am a Texas alumnus, class of '04. I thought it was bad only wining 10 games and never against OU while I was there... some people wanted coaching changes back then especially when Simms replaced Applewhite for 2000 (which was certainly lamentable but Major was allegedly pretty banged up and they didn't think he could survive a season) and when they gave the nod to Chance Mock over Vince in 2003.

If you really examine everything this decade, what hurt us while I was there was poor defense, and strange coaching game day decisions. The defense was finally improved when they got Chizik... and has been good since then, this season's poor execution not withstanding. The offense has been sort of idiotic since Vince left, the difference being that Colt McCoy was very good and already was coached well to be a QB by his father, and he was surrounded by very good receivers (Limas Sweed, Quan Cosby, Billy Pittman) and a much better line. Lack of a real running back when Charles went to the NFL was inexcusable though. This is Texas for God's sake, there should be plenty of kid's that can run and would want to play at UT. At any rate, they were mostly able to get around it because of talent... They still ran a lot of dumbass plays... These worked, not because of the play calling but despite it.

All in all I do think that coaching has not been top tier at UT overall this decade despite having the second longest 10win season streak ever. This is the program with more money than anybody in FBS, and is located in the first or second (depending on which number you believe) best producing state for players. I think Mack is a nice guy, but the staff as a whole has not developed the talent to the degree of many other programs. I guarantee that if Texas was run by Jim Tressel or Nick Saban UT would have had a whole crapload more BCS appearances, and title game appearances and at least one more BCS championship in this same time period (not even counting the one we would have had if Colt didn't get injured last time ).

We have the best athletes in the nation, I don't care what anyone says. There is no excuse why we aren't in the national championship every year. Mack needs to grab the reigns on his team, he's got the talent on that team to do it. That team is in for the hardest offseason of their lives.
