10 years ago, it was critical to make sure a builder knew and understood the nuances of LSx motors.
Today? Not so much. They are so commonplace and the platform to have for the performance industry, it would be hard to find one NOT familiar with LSx motors.
But, after having several motors done their for customer cars, if you ask them about what it is you want to do, if they don't get it, they'll tell you.
In my case, we run a spec road race series that has horsepower limits. We had long "chats" about what could be done and couldn't. Anything done to build power had to be restricted somewhere else. It's a hard concept to get your head around. But Wayne and son worked with me and I have a rock solid motor as do a couple others. I've beat on it 20-45 minutes at a time (not just 10 seconds), 24 times a year. The motor was built in 07.
Calvert has been in businees in the same location under the same name doing the same type work for over 50 years. They have to be doing something right.
FWIW ... I get nothing from them. Just a satisfied customer

I have seen cars from each of these engine builders and all cars were crazy fast.. Give them a call and see if and how they can help you.. My friend had his engine built by kim barr racing engines, still hasnt ran the car yet waiting on transmission to come in.. Engine dynoed 680 on pump gas (N/A engine). It's not an lsx engine though but he did tell me they do work on those as well since they were selling a few 440 blocks that were in there shop ready to go.. Good Luck on your engine build..
