As much as I love my GTO, I would have to say Shelby GT 500 gets the nod.

you can find very good deals on c6's. cheaper than a shelby and better than a gto. i was looking at used shelbys and 2011 mustangs and i got my ls2 vette for under 28k with only 35k miles. and you can do a lot with a vette. long term.

The 2011 GT500 with the SVT Performance Package is an amazing car. The 5.0's are awesome, but (if money isn't a factor) I'd take an 11 GT500 over the 5.0 any day.

If I could afford both, no doubt the Shelby, for driving, but for collecting the GTO. Depends on what you plan to do mod wise.

depends on how you look at it...

2004-06, about 40,808 GTOs were made. about 13,000 a year.
2007-09, i have read that less 10,000 GT500 were made per year. but i bet that is a little high. it is more then likely closer to 5,000 or less per year.

so, looking at numbers, the GT500 is more collectable.
but that Pontiac does not exist anymore, adds some to the GTO.

No Vette need the back seats. I want the car for dependability an to mod obviously an as of now im leaning towards the gt5 those things are sweet an get alot of good reviews.Although i wanted the goat when i first saw them but i really like the gt5. Plus its got low miles an never been modded which is great for me. I have to say i have never driven a MUSTANG

The 265 is incorrect, the picture above has 285's on it, with a mini tub you could go maybe 315's, for sure 305's

not nocking the GT500 as its a well built factory car. and the 2011gt500 is very impressive.

I'm not a brand loyalist, so that is not even a real question IMO.

GT500 any day of the week.

FALSE

335's going on this one

I've got 275's on mine and i've done no mods to make them fit. Mustangs are slow anyway.....
