Sounds good, I'll definitely check that out.

Getting a little off topic, what are the smog laws like? How do they test?

Riata is nice. http://www.riata.com/

Lots of selection on prices and sizes. Full gym, happy hours, jogging track, garages, multiple pools, and car washing bays. If I didn't live down south that's where I would probably live, but since I have a doberman I don't really have allot of choices. Then again I'll probably be buying a house in Lakeway or Belleterra soon.

Your '97 should be OBDII. They will run a scan of the computer to check for codes. They will give it a visual for cats, lights, turn signals, wiper blades, no cracks or holes in tail lights, listen for exhaust leaks and working horn. They also check to make sure your brakes work and dont sound worn out and that you have a functional emergency brake. Also they check that the power steering has no leaks, which I never really understood why this wont pass but leaking oil does? Im sure theres some more things that they check but I cant think of them now.

If you have an OBDI car they hook it up to a sniffer and do a high and low rpm check instead of a pcm scan. I believe thats the only difference in OBDI and II.

On my last inspection of my daily the inspector told me next year texas is implementing "no aftermarket lights" meaning no HID bulbs if they werent factory. My daily has them and he told me "ill pass you this year" after which I said "yea i guess you have to since it not a law yet, huh?" He was a dick about it like he was doing me a favor so I felt he deserved some attitude back lol.

So then where do you race, cause I don't think I've seen you out at any of our meets...???

Hmm, guess I'll have to hang on to my stockers when I put in my HIDs. What about longtubes? I do have high flow cats, will the LTs be ok? I have emissions hookups on them.

Yes, that's fine. Most just do a visual inspection to make sure you have cats.

Yea my mustang has longtube and Ive never been questioned about them. My current car is getting longtubes as well. Shouldnt be any trouble. Although I do tend to avoid any commercial or "quick lube" type place that offer inspection. From my experience they seem to be more picky than mom and pop shops.

^^^ Good to know, thanks.

I got in touch with Nick at apartmentexperts.com, and he's finding me some nice places. I'm leaning towards Round Rock right now.

I just though I would update this thread for you guys. I got in touch with Nick at apartmentexperts.com. Really nice guy, and found me a great place in Round Rock. I'm all moved in, and love the place. It really puts my place in California to shame. Everything is so much cheaper here.

So thanks for all the help guys, especially for referring me to that site! I hope I like my stay in Texas.
