blah blah blah about the GT500. Some magazines have already tested the CTS-V coupe (weighs 200-300 lbs more than the Camaro ZL1 will) against the new GT500. The Caddy was faster. The Camaro will be faster than the Caddy....and the GT500

Clearly, the Caddy launches better. I'd bet Ford will up the power for the 2012 GT500.
We all know a 2011 5.0 GT with a TVS will *** rape that ZL1, but now we are talking about aftermarket car vs stock car and that's gay.
This just makes my decision when buying even harder.

116.6 mph is not faster than 118.9 mph.

If the ZL1 is lighter than a CTSV then the GT500 is in trouble. For those who doubt that and own a bone stock GT500, hit me up and I will show you the taillights of a CTSV.

Just yesterday, word emerged on the Web that the 2013 Shelby GT500 could kick out as much as 620 horsepower. Today, we have the first spy shots of the new car.
Expected to pack a 5.8-liter supercharged V-8 based on the current aluminum-block 5.4-liter engine, the new GT500 has the coming 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 squarely in its sights. If it's an improvement on the current GT500, Chevy will have a very hard time matching, let alone beating, the Shelby.
The rest of the GT500 shouldn't change much: it will look much like the current car, should have a similar suspension and performance package setup, and will of course be a solid-axle, rear-drive layout. Interior quality may see another uptick, and it'll likely get a few new tech features as Ford has been pushing hard in that segment lately.
Beyond that, it's a waiting game to see what the next Shelby GT500 will offer. We just can't wait to get one on track.

Car and Driver magazine is reporting that the gurus at SVT have been working on the next level for the 2013 Shelby GT-500. Their sources and ours indicate that there is big news on the horizon including some major engine upgrades.
It is reported that the 2013 Shelby GT-500 will get an increase in displacement from 5.4 liters to 5.8. The current supercharger will be replaced by a larger and more efficient Eaton TVS unit, likely 2.3 liters in displacement. The horsepower output is said to jump up to around 620, from 550 in the 2012 Shelby GT-500.
This is big news as Chevrolet plans of rolling out their GT-500 beater soon, the ZL1 which will have a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 with somewhere around 550hp. Ford no doubt wants to keep the Mustang on top of that figure, which makes the boys at the SVT office come in handy.
