Default Wheel widening

Anybody know who widens stock wheels in Texas?

I talked to to Mickey Thompson and they are going to be way late on releasing their 19 inch drag radial. So I've got a set of stock c6 front wheels that I need to be widened 1.5-2 inches. Thanks.

I am interested in this as well in the Houston area as I wouldn't mind having some narrowed for front runners.

Mark, I picked up some 9.5x18" repros pretty cheap (mine are C6 Zoh replicas to match my fronts) and put the 305/35/18 MT's on them. they fit OK but they are not perfect and stick out just a scosh. They were rubbing on me but then I raised my back end up to three fingers in-between the tire and fender and I have not had a problem with them rubbing. I think I actually caught some air when bombing through downtown and a raised manhole cover snuck up on my a few weeks ago so they have got a good test for sure. When these MT's wear out I was going to take them to Baker Backy (sp) to have them shave ~5mm off the hub and I think they would tuck in. Call me if you want to see how they look. It gets pretty spendy buying two 18's, sending them off to be widened and shipping them back although that is the ideal solution.

Thanks Bill! These are going to be on the car everyday, so I want to go wider than 9.5. I'd have loved to see you getting some air downtown. Surprised you didn't bust your headers or anything else up. These are going to be daily driver wheels, so I want a 10.5-11 inch wheel.

I talked with HPP. They want 225 a wheel. I am waiting to hear back from Weldcraft.

I wish there was somewhere in Houston to avoid the hassel of shipping

I need to get my rears widened to get some larger meats on the back for daily duty.

Posted on Corvette Forum too, and spent a lot of time searching different corvette, mustang, etc sites. Weldcraft is the way to go. Turn around time right now is 4 weeks. I got an email from James at Weldcraft today. To widen an 18 inch wheel 2 inches is 235 per wheel.

It's a lot more than I wanted to pay once you factor in 275-300 a peice for the MT drag radials, but I'd rather have traction then spin on the street.

Hpp is cheaper closer and does it in less time.

They will also do things weldcraft won't. Mine are 4.25 inches wide. Wledcraft won't even do less than six.

HPP is 225 a wheel, talked to them yesterday. Weldcraft is doing mine 2 inches. I personally talked with both shops, so I don't know where you are getting your information.

HPP is 225
Weldcraft is 235

Weldcraft has the best reputation in the industry, without question. Nobody even comes close. Search it on all the boards.

4 weeks is a pretty long time and I could use the ~550 bucks or whatever it is after shipping on cam swap junk

I may just swap to a stickier street tire in a smaller width like the Potenza RE-11 or Khumo XS or something.

I'm not sold on daily driving on DRs on the C6 yet. I still like to turn on demand without it sliding around on me.

Chris, yes, they will widen the lip in some situations. www.weldcraft.com. Look at the form you would need to fill out.

Shawn, the MT in 18's are not too bad. The sidewall is softer. It won't corner like a street tire, but it was fine on my C5. I'll be pushing 700rwhp soon, so I am limited to really having to use an R compound to hook up.

I don't need to search anything I have had work done and I prefer hpp. Like I said they are closer, cheaper. Less shipping, and can do more than weldcraft can, or will do. Seems like a no brainer to me.
