Default I hate semi trucks

I was driving south on I-35 by Hillsboro when a big rig cut me off. That was not too bad, but there was a mud flap holder (big metal thing) on the road. Well, he run over it and it flew in the air and it hit my car. I couldn't stop since we were doing 70-75 and I had glass flying everywhere so I couldn't get his license plate. I got the windshield replace but I think I am going to need a new dashboard. The last picture is with the new windshield.

I do feel lucky, the dash and windshield can be replace and much cheaper than a trip to the hospital (or the morgue) . Although I am pissed that the trucker didn't even stop. The shop wanted 1150 to replace the dash so I decided to do some research and just do it myself.

That sucks man. Atleast it wasn't a few more inches up the windshield. You can find a dash out of a car being parted out pretty easy.

Removing the dash isn't as bad as you would think. Just be careful with that dash pad if it is not cracked already. They break easy and are worth their weight in gold. I've seen most places sell them for $150 or so. Just remove you center console, dash pad, instrument cluster and bezel, the glove box and drop the column under the kick panel. And remove the a pillars. I think there is 10 bolts or so that hold it in. They are 7mm and the hardest part is unclipping the wiring harness that holds onto the dash support bar. And you might want to get some weather stripping foam to replace the A/C vents since you're in there.

I would have needed a new dash, underwear, and seat!

Glad you didn't get hurt or worse!
