casting numbers won't tell you if the block has been bored or not.

pull the heads and measure the bore (best choice)
pull the oil pan and windage tray and look for aftermarket parts in the rotating assembly

the reason the car was so slow, was it had a 2.73 gear in it

the only way to know without a doubt is by checking the bore. Either way you are not screwed, they are heavy but very tough. You have a ton of cylinder wall and the ability to really boost or spray in a 5.7 config without as much concern as an ls1. I also wouldnt concern myself too much about the ms3 you shouldnt have any issues with that cam in the motor. May not be idel but everyone has different reasoning behind their cam choices (no one being right or wrong) just different goals. it will cost you a set of head gaskets and bolts to know the truth about the motor and that is well worth it.

not true, theres cars that run low 10's with those gears..
