Fair price? Need some input
you can ask whatever you want, but if you ask $17,000 for a car that is $10,000 or less, i don't see you selling it and people like myself would say it's way over priced, and you will get offers close to what it's true value is (not to say there might be someone dumb enough to pay your asking price. they are out there)...

the reality is, you have a base trans am model, 6spd, @ 85,000 miles, with t-tops, that's 95% stock and in good condition. while a lid and catback are desired mods, it really doesn't add a huge value to the car. nothing special or rare about it, period. what helps you is the fact there are not a lot of miles on the car. don't confuse that with "a low milage car". that would relate to a car with 20,000 miles or less in, IMO. others may disagree with me and that's ok.
if you want/wish to truly sell, price it aggressively. if you get close to what you are wanting to get out of it, why split hairs over a couple hundred dollars? I mean, if I was asking $10,500 and 2 wks later worked out a deal for $10,200, i'd take it and be done with it. everyone deals differently, so what works for one person might not be ideal for someone else.
what annoys everyone on this sight as of late, are the idiots who are seeking outragous prices for their cars because they believe them to be 'rare' or 'collectors' or 'xx/out of 500 made', in their lame attempt to justify asking way over market price. im sorry but a car from '98 with 140,000 miles on it is not worth $9000, no matter if it's a formula, t/a or ws6 model. its stupid to even ask that price to begin with. the mark-up on these vehicles has gotten way out of hand. or maybe i just see what the real value is of these cars and others are in deep denial that the value drops like a rock.
apologize that this got long, but i hope this helps you understand where myself and others come from and think. regardless, good luck if you decide to sell...
