The more I think about this the more it impresses me. I used to own a 454SS and just thinking of a truck going that fast .....well, i don't trust them that much. How you get traction I don't know but mad props!

How much lighter would a stepside bed be? I know my '00 rcsb stepside bed weighted nothing with the plastic fenders on both sides.

I think those stepside beds weigh more. Too much fiberglass to make the fenders.

Fenders are all plastic on the newer ones. They were on the '99-xx body style trucks anyway.

Stepside beds are heavier than fleetside beds, theyre made out of a urethane type plastic with a metal liner for the actual inside of the bed. There isnt much difference but Id say a good 50#s.

Weight makes very little difference to trap speed mph in a standing mile. It's all about horsepower and aerodynamics at speeds this high.
