nice catch tho looks like a hell of a fight!
we use to fish the peirs but most of them are gone lol i went to seawolf park back in the winter and caught about 3-5 reds from 37-56insh long there...everyone was but it was only for a few hours while tieds were changing.

It's a black drum. They once they reach that size, most of them loose their color pattern and get all brown and ugly. Thus the name, big uglies.
Small black drum (delicious)

Nice sized black drum (approaching the biggest size I would keep)

Big Ugly (for me, catch and release only. Probably full of worms)
![](http://www.stripersurf.com/images/didmenico_H2_05282006.jpg)
BTW, once cooked, the worms, if not too big, aren't even noticed. Though harmless, if I can't cut them out of the flesh, the fillet gets tossed in the trash. It's for this reason I usually give my Speckled trout away or release them. Those thing always have worms regardless of size.

haha, specs are usually full of worms, but it doesnt bother me.
i might try to cut a few o the big ones out if its a big trout, but the little ones dissappear after you get em off the grill or out of the pan.

Damn those are some nice fish guys! I just went this past weekend to Port Mansfield and it was awesome my 3 friends and I caught our limit within the first hour, eventhough our fish looked nothing like these beast, the biggest one we caught was a 27" red.

I love hanging out at Seawolf Park pier. Here are a couple of my pics and one with my wife. The stingray was one hell of a fight and the fish my wife caught was using #14 (very small) hooks and a small piece of shrimp on 10 pound test line.
About live crab, I'm 0 of all trips using them. I'm just unlucky using live crab.
Here is how to use live crab for bait.

Nice fish! I was out at seawolf park pier fishing this past friday. Wind was pumpin!
And speaking of sting ray, I've caught one wade fishing about 250 yards off shore on skyline drive near the dike that was easily over 100 pounds..talk about some scary ****!
You should change your screen name from old goat to O G! lol

^We call this a "pallet" size flounder. I caught this one wade fishing at seawolf park this past November. 25" 7 lbs. (That's a big *** wading net just to show you the size comparison. She barely fit in it.)

Yea it's a good place to wet a line. Been one of my most-fished spots since 91st st pier got wiped out a few years back. Just go to the end of the pier on the right side of the t-head and chunk you a few dead bait far out there, croaker, mullet, whiting, crab, etc.. and leave it alone. I've caught over 20 bull red (25-45 lbs) in one night. When they're there, it's on so be ready!

buddies ~4lb bass at the same lake/spillway

Our sandbass we caught up creek at a local lake. most of the creek is ~2-3 feet deep and some places only a couple inches. throw anything shiny and that spins in the deeper pools and its almost a guaranteed catch

Here was our total for the day. My sister was the lucky one. i think she caught half the fish, and was her first time really fishing. lets just say she wants to go back again this year after some big rain lol
this was the first time I had ever had freshly caught fish to eat. we were camping so we fried em up right after we cleaned em. let me just say it was the best fish i have ever eaten in my entire life. we will actually be camping in the same spot again all weekend, and its supposed to rain. ill be out there all day friday with a couple poles in the water!
I know that my fish arnt anything special, but these are the catches that have gotten me more into fishing THIS year then any other time. Im loving my sundays when the gf is studying, i fish all day long haha.
BTW, nice fish guys, you all have caught some monsters!
