Default Texas Performance Transmissions

..in Humble

any experience? ...they're running some tempting Craigslist ads, complete overhaul w/6mo warranty for $525 completed in one day.

My car is daily driven and certainly doesnt need any tranny work but I figure this is something I should start budgeting for considering its age/mileage

TIA

Check to see what parts are included in the "overhaul". Usually it's a steel 3-4 shift fork, billet keys/springs, carbon kevlar synchros, and new seals.

I assume this is their basic rebuild (clutches, gaskets, seals, bearings) as they also offer a "competition level 1" overhaul for $800 with "Raybestos or Borg Warner clutches, Raybestos Z Pak to replace the weak 3-4 stock clutch pack, the Beast heavy duty sun shell, wider than stock red kevlar band, corvette servo and our own design shift kit for harder shifts"

All you have to do is pull the springs and block the Accumulators and drill few holes for harder shifts. Ive seen shops do this I dont recommend pulling the springs out and blocking them from moving. Transgo sells a awsome hd2 kit that works just fine you can install 1 shim, 2 shims, 3 shims for firmer shifts with springs drill few holes install few things in the valvebody and this area is a very important area of the transmission. The 3/4 is always a down fall and this hd2 kit helps the problem. Im sure you can google the instructions read them they explain the down fall and how the kit helps. Ive seen alot of the input drums leak where the shaft presses into the drum and seen the drums crack there is a sleave for this down fall too. $525 is a awsome price but youy gotta do some home work and find out what all is being replace and is $525 only for soft parts?

I'll tell you something I learned about 18 years ago, you get what you pay for. on a car, spend the money and do it right the first time, and if it's really cheap then it won't last....

It's your car, don't do it cheap.
