Default Where to take tranny(tbss)?

I want to install a cam in the tbss but know the tranny will crap out soon afterwords. I called circle d but was told $2k+any hard parts. Just wanting a tranny built to handle around 500hp. With a total of tranny and cam running me anywhere from $3-$4k it really doesn't seem worth it.

Any suggestions on options or other shops?

Talked to circle d but was told it was $2k plus and hard parts, up to $2900. I only plan a cam now so paying a total price of $3-$4k doesn't sound too appealing. I really just want something that can handle 400ish rwhp for now and if I decide to build a motor I'll get a new tranny then. The last thing I want is the wife bitching because her truck breaks down.

I tried century yesterday but wasn't able to get a quote. I'll call back in a few minutes.

I'm glad you don't use the word TRANNY in your company's name.

HAHAHA! Definitely not. On one of our local message boards the word filter replaces "tranny" with "transvestite". Its pretty funny to read sometimes.

What would be good to hold at max 600/600 hq/tq? Level V or VI?

In an AWD truck with that much torque I'd highly recommend the Level VI souly for the 300M chromoly output shaft. The shaft takes a lot of abuse in the AWD trucks.

Sounds good. I'll probably give you guys a call later this year.

BTW do you guys offer ECU settings for your trans? Either a HP Tuners / EFI Live file or just table values I can cut & paste?

I don't care what kind of upgrades you do to the 4L60 its gonna crap out on you at some point in time. They were just not designed with enough strength. I have been through a crap load. if your gonna do anything I would put money toward a conversion, like a 4L80. Any transmission might give out on you but I built a bulletproof transmission that was $4K just in parts no labor and it would find some reason to be pulled back out. Just my $.02
