looking at used full-sized SUVs
that said, I'm not getting rid of the TA, just looking to add another vehicle. My budget is around $5k and I really like the looks of the late 90's/early 00's Land Rovers... also found several good used similar year Toyota Land Cruisers.
so... Land Rover vs. Land Cruiser so far
or open to suggestions. It has to be full sized since the car seats can only be belted into them... also if three adults cannot fit in the 2nd row, it must have a 3rd row.
I've heard nothing but bad things about Land Rover/Range Rovers once they're out of warranty.... but the Land Cruisers will supposedly go forever
TIA

I was looking to get a Tahoe then found a well priced TBSS. 5 people may be a squeeze though.
the new SUV would be for me to use that one or two days a month when I would need to pick up the kids... otherwise, I'd be in the TA
we rented a Trailblazer a few months ago and frankly, hated it. It would be nice if it was just us and one child but there simply isnt enough room for the car seats, stroller, extra crap, etc

I know someone that has a clean 03 or so f150 crew cab 130k for like $4000. Plenty of room for everything you need and in your price range.

most full sized, 4 door trucks have three car seat anchor hook-ups in the rear seat which is what I need
does anyone know if the TBSS is/was available in an EXT body style? ...those have 3rd row seats if I remember correctly
Look for 1/2-ton based SUVs, they are built tougher and will last longer than compact/midsize SUV's. Tahoe/Burb etc..
don't buy a Ford. I grew up with a **** ton of ford trucks. **** my mom STILL has not learned.
I personally have had both: a '02 Tahoe and I currently own a '04 Suburban. The Tahoe worked for us for the first year and realized with all the baby stuff we had to lug around the suburban was the best choice.
We own our Suburban now and it's great for all the activities a family is expected to encounter: Football / baseball practice, camping, fishing, beach, road trips, and it's great when you have family in town... just pile everyone in and go to dinner.
We even bought one of those external hitches for the extra camping gear and 60+ gallon Ice chests. It's been a very versatile vehicle.
When the wife is done with it I'm modding the Fk out of it and making it my hunting truck/ rock climber.

Think long term bro... Suburban FTW!
And I asked my friend about the F150, he said it wasn't that nice.. If it helps my friend got his expedition for like $2500. Pleeeennty of room. Also a guy that came through work that got an 08 suburban 40k miles for $4000 through an ins. auction, $2500 later it looked brand new. Deals are out there just have to look.
