I found some nice trucks at trucksintexasdotcom

Anyone in San Antonio have any feedback on them. I will be working in between San Antonio and Corpus and it would be nice to be able to pick something up without having to come home

The truck you had last year would have been perfect.

I don't want to spend over $20,000 so I can be closer to another car inthe garage.

My wife came across an '04 Titan 4x4 Crew cab with 130k on it for $9,500.

I know, I hated having to trade it in but just couldnt afford the gas with my current position. That is all about to change, just have to do better money management than last time I was out on the pipeline.

I am not convinced that I need a diesel truck with the minimum possibility of pulling a trailer and I won't be letting it sit idling all day.

What kind of driving will you be doing?

If it is on non paved roads, I wouldn't spend too much. The field guys who work for my company basically detroy trucks by 100k miles. The roads are so rough the trucks beds have cracks all over, the suspension is shot, etc. It doesn't matter if it is a F150, F250, Dodge 1500 or 2500. We don't have any GM because the Ford's and Dodges are cheaper. Based on this they never let the field guys get a diesel because the trucks are done long before the difference in expected drivetrain life matters.

It is small gravel roads mostly but lots of highway miles to get to them. I want something that is comfortable to ride in and will last a couple years of highways.

I've had really good luck with my 08' GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 2WD. It's turning over 160K now and all Ive done is the regular maintenance. It averages about 21mpg at 70mph.

I do a lot of travel for work and would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Randy, just get one like my dad has got. Try to find a nice one with <120k miles for under $10k. Don't spend $18k on something you'll only rack up the miles on and won't really need in 2 years.

Everything you seek just screams diesel to me, especially if you are concerned about depreciation. You'll sell a 300K mile diesel for a much better return than a 150K mile gasser truck. My '06 ram dually averages just over 20 mpg.

Find any pre-06 2wd diesel truck. Bonus points for longbed, they have a larger fuel tank.

I have a 2001 Toyota Tundra SR5 V8 4.7L. It has 300,000 miles. Spark plugs and wires were changed once in it's lifetime. It still has just about all the original parts in it including water pump, radiator, shocks, springs, etc. I have been known to miss oil changes up to 10,000k miles/7+ months at a time on it. I tow 30+ foot boats with it and have never had a transmission problem. After all these miles, it just FINALLY started leaking oil through the valve gaskets. I have literally abused and tried many methods to kill this thing, and it STILL has awesome compression. This mother f***er will just not die.

I'm almost convinced that this thing will outlive any offspring my offspring and their offspring will ever produce. Flame away clowns.
thats what I wanna do with my 07

Sent a couple pics to give you an idea, it's filthy because they live down a dirt road so I will send some good ones when I detail the **** out of it. Couple hours with me and I will have it looking brand new like the Escalade they had.

you can get 96-2000 7.3's with 5 speeds pretty cheap, our work truck is an 02 F350 dually with the 7.3 with over 350k miles on it, still going strong, only changed a water pump, high pressure oil hoses and a few small things. Id drive it cross country right now and not think twice.

we have a '97 and '98 Dodge extended cab duallys with over 200k each - drivetrain, suspension, and diesels are holding together better than new... but the interior comfort crap is always going out on them - radios, ACs, window motors, etc

my dad has a '94 Z71 with over 300k that has had the living **** beaten out of it and besides some dings and scratches, runs like new

stay away from Fords - in my experience, they rarely last beyond the warranty

to reiterate whats been said - you'll pay more for a Chevy but they'll last, if you want power and decent mileage, Dodge diesel
