Default How can I tell if i have forged internals.

I bought a used engine. It is supposed to have forged internals.
Looking at it with the pan off I see "Scat -07 ARP 8740" on the rod bolts and "9804S" on the side of the rod. I see no marking on the pistons but I cant see the top unless I pull the heads.

its got ARP 8704 rod bolts in it, and most likelly scat rods/crank. Did the guy tell you what was supposed to be in the motor? And the underside of the piston should have something on it somewhere.

He didn't know exactly. He bought it out of a friends totaled Camaro and was going to drop it in his 240 but changed his mind. I will look at the pistons a little harder.
Thanks

You can buy a bore scope and pull a plug to look at the top of the pistons without pulling the heads.

Just put it in and spray the hell out of it, if it stays together you will be ok. Lol

Jk don't do that. Sounds like you got scat rods and arp bolts at least.

Thanks, I'm not going to spray until I have a better rear end. Thnaks for the info.
Watch what you tell people on the Internet.
It may be rumor but I hear someone asked how to flush an engine on another forum. The response was something like"with a garden hose". The dope did it
I guess I don't have to tell you what happened.
