How old is too old to drive?
83... wrong direction on a divided highway... not her first time...
oh, and no ticket

My dad is 65 and regularly races his 997 turbo strip/street/roadcourse, still incline benches 275, deadlifts over 300 and can standing curl 150+ He certainly isn't going to lose all of that in 6 years, lol.
You can't simply put an age to it because I've know people in their early 50s that look/act/are old as **** and people in their 70's who are in better shape mentally and physically than some of my friends in their 20s
My father stopped driving at 93. I felt safe riding with him until that time. He and I decided at that time it may be best for him to stop and let me take him where he needed to go. Hopefully I have a couple more years of safe driving. And have the mentality to stop should I live long enough to become less than safe.
If they are in good enough shape to drive they shouldn't bitch because they have nothing to worry about.
My grandpa had vision problems that developed over a 6 month period and he is almost blind now. I realized he was having problems seeing when I would ride with him as he was running service calls. I just so happened to be riding with him when he pulled out in front of a semi that was aimed at my door. I pulled him over after that and sadly that was the last time he ever drove. It's a tough decision but thankfully he agreed with my dad and it scared him as much as it scared me. FYI he's 84 now. my .02

Let's not forget about the teenagers and young adults that can't put that cell phone down or those who can't go for 10 minutes without texting someone. There are a lot of things that takes a persons mind off their driving and it isn't just the old folks.
One thing the company I work for did was outlaw talking on cell phones when driving, however drivers can use hands free devices. IMHO, it isn't just the hands, its about the attention being used on some silly phone call versus doing what they should be doing, which should be concentrating on safe driving.

Guy in his 40's doing a freaking crossword puzzle, using his steering wheel as a table.
Drivers leaving Pearland high school going down Pearland Parkway racing their trucks and easily doing 80 mph.
Guy on Crenshaw in a white truck was obviously texting and kept moving from his right lane to the left lane. He did this for about 2 miles until he got about 1/4 in my lane, then I honked. I guess that text was pretty ******* important.
Then again how many drivers are driving without insurance and without a license?
It isn't just the old folks who need a foot in their asses in order to get from point A to point B without killing another driver. I drive about 60,000 miles a year (work and travel), so I see this **** all the time.
Why can't people over a certain age aren't required to do it too?
I also see bitches putting their makeup on in the mornings while going 65mph down the highway.
I agree with most. There shouldn't be an age limit. Different people lose their driving skills at different ages. My wife's grandma drove like a champ when she was in her late 70's.
BECKVILLE, TX (KLTV) - A woman is dead following a crash two miles North of Beckville. Emergency crews were called to 149 just North of Beckville about 4:12 pm Wednesday.
The woman has been identified as 71-year-old Sherran Putman of Beckville.
Officials say that Putman was driving a GMC Sierra 1/2 Ton King Cab and clipped the rear wheels of an 18-wheeler in front of her and then began to spin. A man driving a gravel truck saw her, but couldn't swerve in time.
Putman was the only person inside the truck.

I'm in my early 30's and I've missed seeing a few bikers before. Thankfully never resulting in an accident but scary all the same. I doubt that the woman's age has much to do with that accident. I agree more testing is needed but to look at that story and say it's cause of her age is a touch on the age-discrimination side.
Seriously, is it possible to fail a driving test (totally serious...I've NEVER met someone who couldn't get a license).
I value myself as a good, defensive driver and I never had to step foot into a car to get my license. At 18 my folks signed off that they had gone over the course with me (they did), I took a written test and got my license. How many people can get their license with absolutely no driving test involved and simply have lazy parents sign off that they completed the driving hours when they really didn't do anything?
Our tests need to be hard to pass so it's an accomplishment to get the license and you don't have dipshits running you off the road while texting, applying makeup, reading, eating, etc..
